In a major organisational reshuffle, the Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Nitin Nabin, a Bihar cabinet minister, as its National Working President with immediate effect.
The announcement was made by National General Secretary Arun Singh, confirming the decision of the BJP Parliamentary Board. This decision comes ahead of BJPโs organisational election, as party president JP Naddaโs term is over and he was given an extension till the election of a new party chief.
45-year-old Nitin Nabin is a four-time MLA from the Bankipur constituency in Patna and currently holds the portfolios of Road Construction and Urban Development in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar.
Born in 1980 and son of veteran BJP leader Nabin Kishore Sinha, he has been a rising star in Bihar politics, having played a key role in the party’s alliance with JD(U) and securing victories in recent assembly elections. Prior to this, Nabin served as the BJP in-charge for Chhattisgarh, showcasing his growing influence beyond his home state.
This appointment underscores the BJP’s strategy to promote experienced regional leaders to national roles, potentially strengthening coordination in eastern India as the party gears up for future polls.
This appointment will help in managing the day-to-day operations of the party till the selection of a new president, as the current president, JP Nadda, is also a Union Minister.
