There is some news circulating on social media saying that Canada has declared ‘Sikhs for Justice’ a terror outfit. This claim is not true. The official announcement made by the Canadian government does not mention Sikhs for Justice at all.
The claim began spreading after an X user named ‘Desi monarch’ wrote, โCanadian government designates Sikhs for Justice group of Khalistani Pannun as a Terrorist Organisation. Big Victory for Indian diplomacy and foreign Affairs.โ

The post included the screenshot of the official statement by the Canadian government issued on 10th December 2025, which said, “Today, the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety, announced the addition of the following groups: 764, Maniac Murder Cult, Sikhs For Justice Canada, and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS, also known as Daesh) affiliate Islamic State-Mozambique.”
Another user, Bhart Singh, shared the screenshot, โSikh for Justice is now a terrorist organisation in Canada. Big win for India.โ These messages quickly gained attention online.

However, the original statement from the Government of Canada does not include the name Sikhs for Justice Canada. It lists Terrorgram Collective along with the other three groups that have been added to the Criminal Code list of terrorist entities.
The organisations named are 764, Maniac Murder Cult, Terrorgram Collective, and Islamic State-Mozambique, which is linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Contrary to the claims, Sikh for Justice Canada is not mentioned in the official statement.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the original statement of the Canadian government was tampered with to include SFJ Canada to make a sensational claim. The government of Canada has not made any concrete steps to fight Khalistani terrorism directed against India from its soil.
OpIndia checked the archives of the statement to check whether Sikhs for Justice Canada originally appeared in it and was later replaced with Terrorgram Collective. But it can be confirmed that the statement never included the name of Sikhs for Justice Canada.
The announcement was made by Gary Anandasangaree, Canadaโs Minister of Public Safety. He said the move is aimed at countering terrorism and violent extremism, especially the online radicalisation of young people. With these additions, the total number of terrorist entities listed under Canadaโs Criminal Code has reached 90.
Under the law, once a group is listed, all its property in Canada must be frozen and reported to CSIS or the RCMP. It also becomes a criminal offence to deal with property belonging to a listed group or provide financial services to it. Immigration and border officials can also use the listing while making decisions under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
The official release makes it clear that only the four named organisations were added, and there is no reference to Sikhs for Justice in the governmentโs statement
