On Thursday (8th January), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) moved the Calcutta High Court against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal.

The development came hours after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee interrupted the raid at the premises of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) chief Pratik Jain, barged into the building and took away important documents.

Citing sources, The Telegraph reported that a hearing could be held on Friday (9th January) before Calcutta High Court Judge Suvra Ghosh.

In a statement, the Enforcement Directorate informed, “West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee entered Pratik Jain’s residence, took away key evidence including physical documents, electronic devices.”

It further added, “Mamata Banerjee’s convoy then proceeded to the I-PAC office from where the CM, her aides, police forcibly removed documents, electronic devices. A person holding a constitutional post misused her authority to take away files.”

In the meantime, it is being claimed that the West Bengal police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the central agency.
