On Monday (16th March), the BJP released the list of 144 candidates who will contest the upcoming West Bengal Vidhan Sabha election.
For the unversed, polls in the State will be conducted in two phases on 23rd April and 29th April for a total of 294 seats. The party, which will secure 148 seats, will form the government in West Bengal.
The BJP has given election tickets to several top party leaders and prominent personalities. This includes the likes of the Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, former State BJP President Dilip Ghosh, fashion designer Agnimitra Paul, actor Rudranil Ghosh, journalist Swapan Das Gupta and cricketer Ashok Dinda.
Suvendu Adhikari will contest the election from two seats, namely, Nandigram and Bhabanipur. It must be mentioned that the BJP leader had defeated TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee from the Nandigram seat in 2021.
Former West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh has been fielded by the party from the Kharagpur Sadar. Ex-cricketer Ashok Dinda has been given a ticket from Moyna constituency while actor Rudranil Ghosh will contest the poll from the Shibpur seat.
Prominent fashion designer Agnimitra Paul will fight the Vidhan Sabha election from the Asansol Dakshin constituency. Journalist Swapan Das Gupta has been given a ticket from the Rashbehari seat.
